O lugar de Alan e Iane (Alan & Iane's Place) consists of a collection of buildings, which were formerly a small self sufficient hamlet, located between the villages of Zambujal and Carrasqueiras here in Central Portugal. Whilst the site feels rural and remote, the town of Alvaiazere is less then two kilometres away and there is a popular café within walking distance at the bottom of the hill.
The property consists of a number of rental properties, located at the end of a long cobble stoned road and on top of a hill with views over the town of Alvaiazere, the surrounding countryside and mountains in the far distance.
There are also a small number of pitches for camping and small camper vans, offering quiet and private spots to pitch up. Please note, access along the cobbled road up to the property is narrow in places with overhanging trees, which could prove restrictive to larger campers.
Casa Malvo provides communal camping facilities including shower rooms, a modern kitchen with cooking facilities, fridge freezer and washing machine. During the hotter months when fires of any sort are banned there is also a brick built barbecue available for guests to use.
The grounds and gardens cover around a hectare and are planted with a range of mature olive, oak, walnut, cork oak, fig and various other fruit trees, which provide plenty of shade and opportunities to lie on a hammock during the hotter months.
This property is ideal for those seeking peace and quiet and there are several forest trails nearby, which are ideal for mountain biking or hiking.
The rental properties are located around a courtyard and can be rented separately or in multiples, if you are looking for accommodation for a larger party.

This region is on the whole unspoilt and is largely rural, with olive groves, vineyards, cork oaks and the occasional pine forest.
This area is at the edge of the fertile plains to the south and more mountainous regions to the North.
Life follows the seasons here in the same way it has for many hundreds of years and the pace of life tends to be slow and gentle away from the larger cities.
Local wildlife consists of rabbits, foxes, badgers, Egyptian mongoose, wild boar and deer.

Alan and Ianes place is roughly equidistant between Lisbon and Porto airports, with Lisbon airport an hour and 40 minutes and Porto around two hours away, if travelling by car.
If travelling by train the nearest station can be found at Caxarias and has direct links to Lisbon, Coimbra and Porto. if required we can meet guests at Caxarias by arrangement, otherwise there are always taxis available in Caxarias or Alvaiazere.
Caxarias is approximately a 20 minute drive away.
It is easy to travel South towards Tomar and Lisbon or north towards Coimbra and Porto along the A13 motorwary which is a 10 minute drive away.

Alvaiazere is a couple of kilometers away and caters for most needs with several cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, a health centre , swimming pool, take aways, pharmacy etc.
A popular cafe can be found at the bottom of the hill and is around ten minutes walk and has a small shop if you get caught short.
There are several river beaches less than half an hours drive away.

The nearest seaside beaches are around 45 minutes away on the beautiful Silver coast and the popular seaside resorts of Figueira do Foz, or Nazare are around an hour away.

The weather patterns in this region are dominated by the Atlantic and as such are slightly cooler than in the mediterranean areas.
Whilst it gets very hot and dry through the summer months, the seasons can still be experienced throughout the year. The nights can be cool in the winter, however it usually warms up quickly once the sun rises.
This area tends to stay green all year round with most of the rain coming through the winter months.
